Gallop through the bush at dawn on super fit, highly trained horses, catch your breath by a river full of crocodiles and hippos with the odd elephant strolling by. Highly professional fast paced horse safaris in the private Karongwe Game reserve close to the Kruger National Park. Top quality South African Boerperd horses are selected and schooled for this purpose. There are a total of 36 horses here for just 6 riders (max number in the group). Whale Watching from Horseback, South Africa
This is one of the world's most stunning beach rides spread over a week. It is available year round but from May to November each year, this area becomes the whale spotting capital of Southern Africa. Southern Right Whales swim within metres of the shoreline to mate and calve each year.
This is a stunning pristine coastline and part of a Unesco protected nature reserve. The week long trip starts with an overnight in Capetown before heading off for 5 days riding. You kick off with an exhilarating 22km ride along the beach, where you will encounter a variety of bird life including the endangered Black Eyed Oystercatcher, tiny Strandloper, gulls and even hunting Falcons. Seals sunning themselves on the rocks are a regular sight. Overnight at De Kelders where ones senses are lulled into peacefulness as the waves crash against the rocks below. It is here that whales come into the cove and spend hours playing with their calves. From this vantage point you will witness the whales breaching, lobtailing and slapping. Take the opportunity to explore the unusual caves at De Kelders. Refresh here after the day's ride in a freshwater spring appearing on the beach - one of only two places in the world where this phenomenon occurs. The next day the trail winds through the dune fynbos up into the hills for spectacular views of the coastline. This area hosts a rich biodiversity of fauna and flora. It is home to the famous Flower Valley which exports exotic native plants ('fynbos') to all parts of the world.

For experienced riders, there are some terrific full day rides, (4-5hrs, with lunch break), including the Paloma Baja beach ride, through pine woods to a deserted coastal region, part of a nature reserve. Another ride takes us up into the mountains to the Sanctuary of the Light, to savour the spectacular views and then ride back through the famous cork forests of Andalucia. This is real Spanish countryside where farm animals run wild and locals are mounted. Not to be missed is the sand dune ride. The dunes are situated at the back of one of the most famous windsurfing bays of Europe where we climb up on the huge sand dunes to slide down the back. This has to be experienced. Picnic lunch in a scented pine forest behind the dunes before riding back to the stables. Most days end with a magical sunset beach ride - either a gentle stroll through the surf or an exhilarating gallop. 7 and 4 night breaks.
Learn the Spanish style of riding on a well trained Andalucian horse with our special weekly riding courses (for novice to experienced riders). 10 hours of flexible lessons spread over the week with the chance for some good fast gallops along the beach or some gentle rides along the beach, depending on your level of experience. Special childrens' and adult beginners' riding courses. Learn to take care of your own horse for the week. You will learn the principles of natural riding with 1 hour of ground work in the sandschool and 1 ride on the beach each day.

6 day Castle to Castle ride, Italy
Wander through vineyards, olive groves and cypress trees, gallop over golden undulating hills and along the shores of sparkling lakes. Stop for lunch in a medieval piazza; savour a simple but delicious Italian meal, all washed down with a glass of the local Chianti.
Back on your horse, you venture further into the unspoilt Italian countryside until you catch site of the venue for the first and second night's stay; the Castello di Proceno, a 12th century castle surrounded by its own tiny walled village, overlooking a flower garden and pool in the shade of cypress trees. It has a superb wine cellar in the medieval vaulted cellars and a restaurant by the pool. The second castle is the Castello Santa Cristina, set in its own extensive grounds and still in the hands of the original owners. Beautiful gardens with large swimming pool with terrace. At the end of the week, you will welcome the sight of the Fortress of Sorano, perched high above this unique Etruscan town. The rooms are built into the fortress walls and all have spectacular views down the canyon beyond the cliffs dotted with ancient Etruscan tombs. However, you are just a few steps from the centre with its cobbled passageways lined with traditional shops and cafés.
The rides are guided by the charming Cristiano Dolcetti, a competitive endurance rider who breeds horses for the famous Palio bareback horse race in Sienna. Cristiano is also incredibly knowledgeable about the Etruscan and Roman history of the area in addition to the flora and fauna. He also knows the best places to eat and what to order! The riding is wild; trail riding across rivers, climbing up into the mountains, galloping across meadows, all on a beautiful white Lipizzaner pony. This is the indigenous breed of Slovenia, from the days when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Lipizzaners
The Lipizzaner is regarded as the oldest classic horse breed in Europe, bred since 1570 to supply the Austrian Hapsburg Empire with cavalry and show horses.
The Imperial Court Stud was situated originally near the village of Lipizza (Lipica, now in Slovenia) and it was this village which gave the race its name. After the collapse of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire in 1920, the Lipizzaners have been bred at the federal Stud at Piber near Graz.
