Nestled in a beautiful valley overlooking an unspoiled landscape of dramatic rolling hills and ancient vineyards, The Westin CampoReal Golf Resort & Spa occupies land formerly used by the Portuguese royal family as hunting ground. The Riding:
The centre boasts an indoor school for assessment lessons or in case of inclement weather and a large outdoor school that looks out to the hotel and valley beyond. Training is offered for beginners to advanced riders in general riding, dressage and show jumping.
Advanced riders have the thrill of being able to practice movements such as piaffe, passage, Spanish walk and tempi changes on exquisitely trained steeds.

For families, there are plenty of small ponies to start or further children’s riding and the hotel is equally accommodating with a specialist family swimming pool and a supervised kids’ club and games area.
Hotel facilities and amenities: In fact, for families or couples wishing to have a little extra space, split-level apartments or outlying accommodation is also available – and there’s a self-catering option too. However, for the ultimate holiday, one should sample the magnificent food on offer from the choice of three restaurants offering relaxed to rather more formal dining environments.
Sporting facilites: Activities at the hotel are extensive and the dedicated golfer can be seen out on the 18-hole course from early sunrise to virtual sunset - the course being sufficiently challenging to suit most experience levels.
Training is also on offer to novice and experienced golfers but there’s also tennis courts, running track, several swimming pools and a superbly equipped gym.

Getting there
The nearest airport is Lisbon approximately 30 minutes away. Lisbon Airport is served by many low budget airlines such as Easyjet and Ryanair from many regional airports.
Transfers to and from the airport are approximately 75 Euros per car one way for a maximum of 4 persons plus 1 suitcase per person. This should be booked in advance at time of booking and added to the cost of the holiday.
Otherwise car hire is available – Europcar costing approximately 200 Euros/week. Good car deals online when you book your budget flight.

Riding Ability
Beginners to advanced riders. Due to the value of the horses and rocky terrain only intermediate and advanced riders are invited to hack but it will be at a steady pace. Horses are prepared ready for riders though guests are welcome to ask questions or assist.
Riding centre opening hours: Summer : Monday to Friday 10 to 7.30 pm, Saturday all day except closed at lunch from 1-3.30pm, Sunday is only available for Advance level lessons and hacks.
What to bring
Hats are provided by the centre but The Riding Company always advises taking your own. Appropriate footwear and riding apparel is advised. Branded CampoReal Equestrian Centre polo shirts and fleece tops are available for purchase.

Meals: Prices include a breakfast pack served in the apartment/townhouse. Lunch or dinner price varies from 25 Euros per person excluding beverages.

Golf: Hotel guests have access to golf lessons at special prices – 18 holes 45Euros/ 9 holes 30 Euros; or at weekends 18 holes 55Euros/ 9 holes 35 Euros. Buggys are available for hire at 18 holes 35 Euros / 9 holes 30 Euros with a 5 Euro surcharge at weekends. Electric trolley 18 holes 17Euros / 9 holes 10Euros. Manual trolley 18 holes 5Euros / 9 holes 6Euros. Hire of clubs 18 holes 35Euros / 9 holes 25Euros.
Cycling: Hire of bicycles is 3 Euros per hour/free for children up to the age of 12.
Tennis: Hire of tennis court is 6 Euros per hour or 10 Euros per hour to include 2 rackets and balls.
Spa: Users of the DiVine Spa must be 16 years or over. Day passes to the DiVine Spa are 15Euros, giving access to the hydrotherapy pool, herbal steam room, sauna, Turkish bath and tea lounge.Treatments including body treatments, hands and feet, skin care and massage range from 40Euros to 130Euros with a deep tissue sports massage costing 85Euros for 55minutes.

While the official national language is Portuguese, you’ll find many people who speak English, French, and Spanish. The local currency is the euro, and banks are generally open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 3pm. Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted. Tourists travelling with electronics should note that the electric system uses 230/400 volts with the European-style two-pin sockets.
Local shopping hours are generally 9 or 10am to 7pm, with a lunch break around 1-3pm. Shops are generally closed on Sundays, except mornings in December for holiday shopping. Large shopping centres featuring international brands generally have longer hours, a brand new one is located just in Torres Vedras, while local markets and fairs vary by region. The concierge can provide additional information and advice.
Environmental issues
You can calculate the CO2 emission of your journey to Portugal at Climate Care and compensate for your 'environmental footprint'. If you let us know how much it is we will be happy to pay this on your behalf.
In the office, we use paper from sustainably managed forests and recycled material where possible.
We encourage you to travel onwards from your arrival airport by rail when possible, and will book seats on your behalf.
How to book
To make a non-binding enquiry or a provisional booking, please fill in the reservations & enquiries form. Once we have checked availability, we will send you a quote with a holiday reference number by email. To secure your holiday, a deposit is required of £200 per person (or half the cost of the holiday, whichever is lower) and forward any insurance premiums to the insurance company. You should book your flights at this stage, and forward details to us so that we can organise your transfers. The balance of payment must be received by us not less than eight weeks before departure.
